Working with U+I since 2018 our geotechnical and structural engineering teams have begun work on the 6.5-acre public park under the first phase of the Manchester mixed-use scheme at Mayfield.
Mayfield is a 24-acre brownfield site full of heritage and has the River Medlock flowing through its core. Mayfield will transform into 14 acres of public realm, along with offices, housing, retail and leisure facilities. The public park is said to be the first public park to be built in Manchester for more than 100 years.
Redevelopment of the site a former depot located close to Piccadilly Station will be redeveloped into a mixed-use neighbourhood over the next 10 to 15 years and is being led by the Mayfield Partnership, which comprises developers U+I and LCR, as well as Manchester City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester.
Our teams are involved in the appraisal of retaining walls, design of bridges, walkways, jetties, pop up venues and assessment of existing river walls and culvert structures. RoC’s Earth Sciences division led by Alex Smiles is conducting the site wide remediation.
