The site is located within Smithfield – a new mixed use quarter for Stoke-on-Trent bound by Warner Street, Broad Street and Potteries Way. The first phase of the Smithfield project was completed in August 2015 and comprises 210,000 sq.ft of Grade A office accommodation.
No 1 Smithfield includes the relocated City Library and has a new customer hub from which the Council will deliver its primary services. No.2 Smithfield provides back office accommodation and also includes two ground floor commercial units totalling to 7,500 sq.ft. The new buildings are set in a new public realm, including a new public square which will be available as performance and event space.
The next phase of development seeks to deliver a full service hotel within the parameters of the existing masterplan.
Genr8 developments in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council will deliver a 140 bedroom full service hotel with restaurant, bar, conference and leisure facilities under a Hilton Garden Inn brand. RoC Consulting has been appointed as structural and civil engineers and our Earth Sciences, geotechnical team have been advising on ground conditions and foundation design.
Our Civil Engineering team proactively engaged with the design team for the site wide masterplan. This is to ensure there is a seamless interface between the new proposed hotel and the existing surface water and foul water drainage networks. The Structural Engineering team completed to RIBA Stage 4 in 2019 and construction commenced immediately.
